Child Development Center Services Update

July 22, 2020

The St. Philip’s College Child Development Center announced they will deliver parenting support to student-parents through virtual lessons for the Fall 2020 semester as current COVID-19 metrics warrant.

Guidance for parents will include topics in potty training, redirection, managing child tantrums, child decision making and contingencies. Lessons will align with the Texas Education Agency and the Texas Early Learning Standards for children 0-3 years old. Materials offered for student-parents will encompass interactive PowerPoints focusing on early childhood education standards, best practices for routines and language development.

When the Alamo Colleges District determines it is safe to re-open the Child Development Center, enrollment will follow the Texas Health and Human Services Childcare opening safety protocols. These protocols adhere strictly to the Center for Disease Control COVID-19 guidelines, City of San Antonio Metro Health Department regulations and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) requirements.

St. Philip’s College employees in need of child care services are asked to contact the Child Development Center at 210-486-2500 for off-site recommendations of NAEYC Accredited Programs.
